Omagh CBS got off to the perfect start when Patrick McCann fired low to the net after three minutes, and they extended the lead moments later when full-back Conor Colton powered through the middle to kick a fine score. St Colman’s finally got on the scoreboard, when Dara Quinn converted a 40m free after 13 minutes. Michael Murdock added another free four minutes later as Colman’s began to find their rhythm. McCann added a mark just before the water break with Omagh leading by three.
Eoin McElholm and Caolan Finnegan traded points before Finnegan blasted to the net to bring St Colman’s level. Another free from Quinn put them infront for the first time, but soon after Seanie O’Donnell and Conor McGillion combined well, with the Fintona Pearse’s man slotting over to leave the sides level at the break.
McCann opened the second half scoring with another fine point before two frees from Quinn edged Colman’s ahead again. Seanie O’Donnell and Oisin Gormley fired a quick pair of points to turn the tide Omagh’s way, before a fine score from Eoin McKee levelled things just before the water break.
Callum O’Neill edged St Colman’s ahead with six minutes remaining before Gormley levelled matters with his second point of the night. Omagh had all the to clinch the game, with McGillion missing two crucial frees, dropping one shot short and Callum Daly missed a great chance to win it with the last kick.
Seanie O’Donnell blazed over to give Omagh the lead in extra time, before a remarkable score from Oisin Gormley, under pressure from distance. Omagh punished a poor kickout when McGillion slotted over from a quickly taken free and suddenly they were three ahead. Caolan Finnegan responded with a fine individual effort but McGillion had the last say of the half with another fine effort.
McElholm extended the gap to four, converting a free he won himself, with points from Charlie Donnelly and Jared Brogan sealing the game in what was an enthralling encounter from start to finish.
