Ahead of the Ulster GAA Senior Club Football Final, we shine a spotlight on exceptional volunteers from Scotstown and Kilcoo who have made an outstanding contribution to their club.

Great teams, aren’t just made on the pitch as our volunteer spotlight shows:

Sean Murphy, Scotstown

Sean Murphy has been a central figure in Scotstown and Monaghan GAA for nearly fifty years. Since 1981, when he was first recognised as a County Monaghan Minor Board Official, Sean has given extraordinary service to our club and county. He has served two terms as club treasurer, totalling ten years, and in 1990 he took on the role of Club Secretary while simultaneously serving as County Secretary. He continued as Club Secretary for a further five years.

For the past fourteen years, Sean has represented Scotstown as our County Board Delegate and currently serves as Chairperson of the Registration & Gradings Sub-Committee. A valued member of the Scotstown GAA Executive Committee for forty-eight years, Sean is known for his direct, honest views and his refreshing, no-nonsense approach. Affectionately known simply as “Murphy,” he is a constant and much-loved presence within our GAA family.

Beyond his many administrative duties, Sean is always one of the first to volunteer—whether it’s match days, Cúl Camps, fundraising events, or general club work. His energy, dedication, and willingness to help inspire all.

We extend our sincere thanks to Sean for his immense contribution to both Monaghan and Scotstown GAA. We are grateful to be able to continue relying on his vast experience and knowledge in the years ahead.

Danny Fettes, Kilcoo

Danny Fettes has had an enormous impact on Kilcoo club over many decades. He has devoted countless hours, particularly in his role as club medic, we can honestly say we would have been lost without his expertise and commitment. It’s no exaggeration to say there isn’t a more dedicated club medic in the country. Whether it was men’s football, ladies football, or camogie, Danny was always there when needed, offering exceptional care to our players both on and off the pitch.

From injury claims to organising physio appointments, scans, and even operations, Danny is the one who steps in and sorts everything, no matter the circumstance. His reliability and willingness to help know no bounds. Beyond his medical work, he also served on the club committee for over a decade, taking on maintenance tasks and any job that needed doing.

A true Kilcoo Gael, Danny never turns away from someone in need. Whatever arises in the club or the village, he is the first to offer his help. We are incredibly fortunate to have him, and his dedication continues to inspire us all.  We thank Danny Fettes for his dedication and commitment over the years.
