A joint initiative delivered by Ulster GAA, Ulster Rugby and the Irish FA has successfully completed a series of school roadshows aimed at inspiring the next generation of sports volunteers.

Delivered through the Department for Communities-funded Sport: A Home for Lifelong Volunteering programme, the roadshows engaged more than 120 pupils from six schools across Magherafelt, Lurgan and Banbridge areas.

The interactive sessions were designed to highlight the value of volunteering in sport and its potential to support future career and education pathways. Each event featured practical coaching sessions across Gaelic games, rugby and football, alongside a mock job interview experience to help build confidence and employability skills.

Pupils also heard from guest speakers who shared personal insights into how volunteering played a key role in helping them secure careers in the sports industry. In addition, students were introduced to the Sports Inspire Awards Programme, encouraging them to take their first steps into volunteering within their local communities.

The initiative underscores a shared commitment from all three sporting bodies to promote lifelong volunteering, develop key life skills, and create meaningful opportunities for young people both on and off the field.

Thanks to the following schools for their participation: Rainey Endowed, Magherafelt High School, St Mary’s Grammar, Banbridge Academy, Banbridge Hight School and St John the Baptist’s College Portadown.
