Ulster GAA Young Leaders learn from the best
Armagh Manager Kieran McGeeney dropped in to meet Ulster GAA Young Leaders
Young people from clubs across Ulster’s nine counties are participating in a four-day academy at the Athletic Grounds focused on developing their skills and knowledge of key issues facing the GAA.
The 37 young people aged 16-24 years old are undertaking intensive training across ten GAA/ Sports focused modules; including:
- Sport Science
- Nutrition and Lifestyle
- Volunteer Management
- Sports Communications
- Heartstart
- Event Management
- GAA for ALL
- Child Protection and Safeguarding
- GAA Coaching Foundation Course.
The young volunteers have also been enrolled in Millennium Volunteers GoldMark Programme and the Joint Award Initiative which will lead to an award in either Gaisce, the President’s Award or Duke of Edinburgh.
Armagh Manager Kieran McGeeney was among those to speak to the 2019 Ulster GAA Young Leaders at their Academy.
The Academy is part of Ulster GAA’s flagship Young Leaders Programme which develops future leaders of the GAA. All participants have committed to taking part in the six-month programme, which includes volunteering in their own GAA club.
Ulster GAA President Oliver Galligan said: “We have a fantastic group of 37 young people participating in this prestigious programme.
“The interactive study and skills development programme has been designed to encourage young volunteers to play a full part in their club and hopefully become future leaders across all areas of the GAA.
“This exciting and innovative programme is an important part of Ulster GAA’s volunteer development work with recognition of the contribution young members can make to our association. I congratulate all participants and wish them well as they undertake this programme over the coming months.”
