The games continue in this years Antrim Senior Football Championship, as fans were given a breather from the exciting Northern Switchgear SFC with the hurling finals taking place last weekend.
This Saturday we will find out who will be crowned the Antrim Intermediate Football champions as Dunloy take on St Ergnat’s Moneyglass. While on Sunday all eyes will be on big one, as reigning champions Cargin look to defend their title against a familiar foe Creggan in the Senior Football final.
On Saturday at 4pm in Dunsilly the whistle will be blown, and we will be just 60 minutes away from finding out who will reign supreme in this year’s intermediate championship.
Dunloy will take on St Ergnat’s Moneyglass in the Larkin-Cassidy Solicitors Intermediate Football Championship final.
In the semi-final of the competition Moneyglass snatched a late 1-15 to 0-15 victory over Belfast side St Pauls in a highly enthralling contest. While Dunloy sealed their place in the Intermediate final with a three-point win over favourites Ballymena with a 1-12 to 1-09 win. This will be a fourth final for the Dunloy footballers in six years!
This year’s showpiece final will see reigning champions Cargin look to successfully defend their crown against a young, fit and strong Creggan Kickhams side. Both teams know each other very well, as they both featured in the 2018 Antrim Senior Football final at Ahoghill. Cargin ran out winners on that occasion.
All roads lead to Portglenone for this years Northern Switchgear Senior Football final with a 2.30pm throw-in! Last year’s defending champions Cargin, will look to secure their name at the top of Antrim Football folklore and win the coveted trophy for a third year in a row and 9th senior championship in total.
In the semi-finals this year, Creggan knocked out Portglenone on a score line of 2-10 to 1-08 to book their spot in this year’s final, with Antrim Senior Hurling captain Conor McCann leading the charge. While Cargin booked their place in the final by defeating Belfast side Lamh Dhearg on a score line of 3-09 to 1-13 in the last four of this year’s competition.
