St Michael’s through after Rannafast thriller
Danske Bank Rannafast Cup quarter-final
St Michael’s Enniskillen 3-19 St Patrick’s Academy 4-10
There was certainly no sign of a blanket defence in Garvaghey yesterday afternoon as St Michael’s Enniskillen edged home in a thrilling end-to-end Danske Bank Rannafast Cup quarter-final.
Enniskillen scored the opening four points before getting knocked back when Ryan Carmichael stroked home a seventh minute penalty.
However the Fermanagh boys immediately stepped up a gear and goals from Darragh McBrian and Eiphen Curran moved them into a 2-6 to 1-1 lead before the Academy hit a couple of goals through Carmichael and then Eoin Donnelly to bring it down to a four points lead at the interval, 2-11 to 3-4.
St Michael’s pushed the gap out to seven points midway through the second half with a series of points from McBrian, Curran and free-taker Michael Glynn.
Again the Academy hit back and Shane Donnelly’s goal brought the sides to within two points of each other.
However two minutes from time Josh Largo-Ellis fired home from close range to seal a semi-final place against Maghera next week.
St Michael’s : Darragh McBrian 1-4, Eiphen Curran 1-3, Josh Largo-Ellis 1-1, Michael Glynn 0-6, Oisin Jackson 0-2, Luca McCusker 0-2, Ryan McGovern 0-1.
