Ulster GAA have developed a workshop outlining the history and background to the GAA, as well as its position as one of the biggest amateur sporting and cultural organisations in the world.

Many individuals, groups, schools and clubs have little or no knowledge of the Gaelic Athletic Association and it is important role within the fabric of Irish life.

The delivery of this workshop can help those from a non-GAA background understand the association and its games and pastimes. It can address some preconceptions and highlight the voluntary ethos associated with the GAA.

In many urban and rural areas, the GAA club is at the centre of the community. It is somewhere for people to identify with, to take pride in and have a sense of belonging. It encourages volunteerism, team work and is an important vehicle in which to deliver important messages for our youth.

The workshop and presentation is regularly used to introduce the GAA to a wide ranging audience. The workshop has been used as part of our Peace IV programme and is one of the work areas of our Community Relations Council programme.
