The GAA Injury Benefit Fund assists registered members who suffer accidental bodily injury while participating in approved playing or training activities. It applies to GAA affiliated units on the island of Ireland and members are responsible for ensuring they have adequate additional cover for their individual circumstances.

The Fund covers registered players participating in during official competitive fixtures, sanctioned challenge matches or supervised collective team training. Registered match officials, voluntary coaches, team managers, selectors and official team personnel are also covered in specified circumstances.

For 2026/27, cover operates from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. The cost is €50 per adult player and €5 per youth player, with a claims-band programme also applying to adult fees. Key benefits include medical and dental expenses up to €5,500, with the first €100 excluded, and loss-of-wages benefits of up to €400 per week from weeks 2 to 26.

Members must be registered on Foireann when injured. Claims must be reported through Foireann within 60 days, and club fees must be paid. Approved claims are subject to the Fund’s terms, exclusions and supporting-documentation requirements.
