Financial Information

In light of the recent shutdown as a result of Covid-19 we have compiled a list of financial measures that may be of use to clubs from a financial viewpoint.

This page will be monitored and updated as the current shutdown proceeds.

  • Player Injury Fund
    Player Injury Fund has been suspended and no claims shall be accepted during the close period. Valid claims which occurred prior to the closure will continue to be processed as normal.
  • Insurance
    Clubs who open their facilities as part of a Covid-19 response must obtain valid insurance from the third party user with a specific indemnity to the club.
  • Club Rates

    6 Counties

      • No rates charge for April, May & June 2020
      • 25% reduction in total bill for 2020/21
      • Ulster GAA, in conjunction with Sport NI, are lobbying for sporting organisations to be eligible for Small Business Grant Scheme
      • Registration is now open for the £25,000 Business Grant Scheme for the retail, hospitality, tourism and leisure sectors. Full information can be found here. Sports Clubs have been included on the list of eligible applicants if they have a Net Annual Value (NAV) of between £15,001 and £51,000. The scheme closes on: 20 May 2020. You can find the rateable value (NAV) of your property by searching the non-domestic Valuation List here.

    26 Counties

    • Commercial Rates deferred for March, April & May 2020
    • This does not mean rates have been waived and those that can afford to pay should continue to do so.
  • VAT registered Clubs

    6 Counties

    • VAT payments postponed for next three months up to June 2020
    • All refunds/repayments shall be paid as normal by HMRC
    • Making Tax Digital compliance period extended until VAT return periods starting on/after 1 April 2021.

    • Revenue commissioners shall apply no interest or late payment charges for VAT for the Jan/Feb period
    • All VAT returns must continue to be submitted as normal and late payment shall not alter the club’s tax clearance status
    • All current Revenue debt enforcement has been suspended until further notice.
  • Club Employees

    6 Counties

    • If a club has employees to be laid off (i.e. Social Club staff etc.) they can be designated as furloughed workers with HMRC funding available to cover 80% Monthly Gross Wage (up to £2,500).
    • Employers can choose to cover the remaining 20% but do not have to.
    • Backdated to 1st March 2020 and open for three months with an extension possible.

    • If clubs can show they have lost 25% of their income/trade they can claim 70% of your employees net wage back up to a maximum of €410 per week
    • For employees on a net weekly pay of between €586 and €960 there is a cap on the subsidy payment of €350 per week.
